I used to play it over and over again in the cassette deck of my old Honda Civic as I scooted around the dirt and cotton fields of West Texas. So many times in fact, that the tape wore out and the lyrics became warped and I eventually had to trash it.
Fortunately, nowadays, folks like me who are still lost in the 80s can now get the soundtracks to their youth on CD! Mine arrived today, and I've really been enjoying the good non-warped quality of the sound.
And, something I almost forgot: I no longer have to sit thru a song I don't like. I can just hit the "skip" button on my CD-player. Back in the day, you either had to endure it or try to time your "fast forward" button just right, and that was next to impossible.
Anyway, if there's anything that's better than modern technology, it's an old song on the radio. I feel the same that this album was wonderful and below the radar of quality all the way around.
The words and conviction of the singers are first class. Shannon Rubicam is a little dynomite and delivers the notes very well. A "reel" find if I may say so.
Underrated, but fantastic music!! One I still enjoy hearing today. Unfortunately, the trend in radio at the time was away from identifying artists. So many people went too long before finding out it was "Boy Meets Girl". A timeless romantic CD. A gem! Any music collector born in the late forty's and coming of age in the 60"s and 70"s will remember their big hit.
Much of the other music on the record is also extremely good. I listen to this one frequently and still enjoy it very much. I was much younger when I first listened to this album on tape I haven't listened to it, yet, as I did purchase some other albums which I have been interested in. I had Reel Life a long time ago on tape, when it first came out.
Surprisingly, the songs around that particular track on the tape were really good as well. The husband and wife team trade off lead vocals on other songs, as Shannon is not featured as heavily in 'Waiting', but shines in other tracks such as "Stormy Love" and "Stay Forever".
A wonderfully sweet 'keeper' album that flew under the radar. One person found this helpful. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews. Thank you for your feedback.
Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Arrived before due date and was as advertised. Bought this back in the day when I would decide: vinyl or cassette. I bought the cassette, now stretched beyond recognition. Great to have it on CD now. Love every song. It's just one of those perfect pop productions. Beautifully crafted music in a category of its own. Would recommend anyone to acquire the album. Load more international reviews.
Just what I needed. Great album! Like it. Great album, very happy. An outstanding album from start to finish. A great shame they did not continue to make more albums. Speedy arrival, no problems.

Boy Meets Girl produced a demo version, or, in some cases such as "Don't Tell Me We Have Nothing", a studio version, before Merrill and Rubicam handed the songs to the intended artists. The song reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot singles chart in May ; the Boy Meets Girl album peaked at number 76 on the album charts. Three years the group released their follow-up album, Reel Life , which featured the single "Waiting for a Star to Fall". With this selection, after years of writing and composing songs for other artists, the duo earned mainstream success in their own right. It was featured in a Little Lady ; the song was inspired by an actual falling star that Merrill and Rubicam had seen at one of Whitney Houston's concerts at the Greek Theatre. The duo submitted the song to Houston for consideration on her next album, but her producer at the time, Clive Davis , rejected it. The song was recorded by Belinda Carlisle for her release Heaven on Earth at the insistence of her label. But Carlisle disliked the song, she refused to include it on the album, though it has circulated in her trading circles for years on a disc of that album's outtakes.

Following their meeting at a wedding at which the two were hired to perform, Seattle natives George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam formed the pop group Boy Meets Girl. Their eponymous debut featured the single "Oh Girl," but it was the duo's penning of two hits for Whitney Houston that established them as songwriters. Boy Meets Girl also recorded the album New Dream , but it was shelved before release.

Thrill Jockey. ENDON is one of the more intriguing extreme music acts just by taking into consideration the full extent of their sonic brutality. The band from Japan has been mixing together an array of volatile ingredients, from black metal, hardcore, and grindcore all the way to noise and industrial. Aided and nurtured by some leading figures of Tokyo's experimental scene, including Soichiro Nakamura of White Heaven and Atsuo of Boris, the band released a fantastic debut work in Mama and then followed up with the stellar Through the Mirror. Their sophomore record in particular saw the band's vision come to complete fruition, unleashing one of this decade's most extreme offerings, a record of sheer intensity and chaotic progressions. The band still relies on the noise element and its multiple forms to build this absolutely extreme manifestation, stemming from the guitar distortion and going all the way to the electronic manipulation the band implements.

About two years ago, when Shannon Rubicam and George Merrill--of the singing-songwriting duo Boy Meets Girl--were going through hard times, a name change seemed in order. Boy and Girl not only reunited, they got married and are now living happily ever after in Venice. While they were writing it, they found that the songs were becoming a sounding board for their miseries--a record of the final stages of their crumbling relationship. He edits the lyrics and does the music, so I was communicating to him through the songs.
